Barbara Garside is a dedicated provisional registered psychologist, with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) earned in the spring of 2023. With a diverse background, Barbara's professional journey includes extensive experience working with individuals across all age groups, from children to adolescents and adults. Prior to her psychology career, Barbara accumulated over a decade of expertise as both a private-studio music teacher and an elementary music educator.

Operating within a person-centered framework, Barbara fosters a nurturing environment aimed at facilitating genuine self-expression and exploration. She firmly believes in empowering her clients as the foremost authorities on their own lives, collaborating closely with them to tailor therapy plans aligned with their unique objectives and preferred methods of intervention. Barbara specializes in addressing a range of challenges, including Attention-Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), specific phobias, depression, trauma, parenting skills, and adjustment difficulties stemming from life transitions.

In her therapeutic practice, Barbara integrates an array of evidence-based methodologies. Barbara often draws from approaches based in: psychoeducation, skill learning, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), attachment-based interventions, solution-focused and strength-based therapies, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), expressive arts, and play therapy.

Outside of work, Barbara enjoys spending time with her family and her dog, trying new hobbies and learning as much as she can about the work she loves.
